The pressure of a liquid increases as we go downwards and reduces as we come upwards. This means that stronger objects shall be present at greater depths to overcome this pressure. This is the reason.

as we go down one word the pressure of a liquid decreases therefore the wall are made thick at the bottom and thin office due to the increasing pressure
