The pictures in the classroom show great writers of the world. The map shows all the seas and lands of the world. But the world of poor children living in slum is very different from these rosy pictures and maps. There world is limited to only what they can see from the windows of their classroom. They can see from there only a narrow Street under a dull sky. They belong to the world of poverty, hunger and starvation. It is world from where everything looks foggy.That is why the poet says that the picture and the map in the elementary school classroom are meaningless.
