Water bearing layer of the earth is called the aquifer.

Explanation:

  • An aquifier is a underground layer of water bearing permeable rock with rock features with soil, slit and gravel.
  • Aquifer is of two types namely confined or groundwater aquifer.
  • The confined aquifer is contained of rocks which are impermeable and not easily penetrable.
  • This means that the water under these rocks cannot be utilized. However it is known that there are only very few of these confined aquifers present still and over the time, the rocks start to develop leakage and the water starts dripping out.
  • The second type of aquifer is the groundwater source which consists of rocks which are permeable and the water can easily be acquired through them. This groundwater is provided to the rocks by rain.
