Given: 10 identical ball bearings were dropped in a burette.

Length of rising in water level in burette = 16.1 cm

The final reading in burette = 36.3 cm

To Find: Initial reading in the burette.

Solution:

We know that the water level became 36.3 cm after the rise of the water.

∴ we need to subtract the length of rising in water to find the initial reading.

∴ Initial reading = Final reading - Rise in water

                          = (36.3 - 16.1) cm

                          = 20.2 cm

Answer: The initial reading is option c) 20.2 cm.
