The water level in a measuring cylinder is 30 mL. When a stone is
completely immersed in it, the level of water rises to 40 mL. If the mass of
the stone is 5 g, find its density

Volume of water displaced,

V = (40 - 30) × 10^-6 m3

V = 10^-5 m3

Volume of water = Volume of stone

Volume of stone = 10^-5 m3

Mass of stone = 5g

Mass of stone = 5 × 10^-3 Kg

Density = Mass / Volume

Density of stone,

D = 5 × 10^-3 / 10^-5

D = 5 × 10^2

D = 500 kg /m3
