The water taps together can fill a tank in 9 3/8 hours. The tap of larger diameter takes 10 hrs less than the smaller one to fill the tank separately. Find the time in which each tap can separately fill the tank

Hello amie....

Let the smaller fill in x hours.


Then larger=x-10

Therefore , time given = 9 is to 3 by 8..


Therefore total time = 75/8 x 1/x


So portion tone filled in 75:8 hours= 75/8(x-10)






-> 75/8x+ 75/8(x-10)




By solving this quadratic equation you will get.
