The new frequency of the sound wave is 2063 Hz.

Explanation:

The wavelength of sound in medium 1,  \lambda=20cm=0.2m

The wavelength of sound in medium 2, \lambda_2=16cm=0.16m.

The frequency of the sound in medium 1, f_1=1650Hz.

Use velocity, wavelength and frequency relation as,

v=f\lambda

Here v is the velocity.

For first medium,

v = 1650 Hz x 0.2 m

v = 330 m/s.

As second medium is same as first, so velocity of sound is same for both the medium.

Now frequency for wavelength 16 cm,

330m/s=f_2\times0.16m

f_2=\frac{330m/s}{0.16m} =2062.5Hz

   = 2063 Hz.

Thus, new frequency of the sound wave is 2063 Hz.
