Question :-

The wavelength range of the visible spectrum extends from violet (400 nm) to red (750 nm) Express these wavelength in frequencies (Hz)

AnSwer :-

Given :-

wavelength of violet = 400nm

= 400 × 10^{-19}m

wavelength of red = 750 nm

= 750 × 10^{-19}m

To find :-

the range of visible spectrum formed

Solution :-

Frequency of violet light :-

 \sf v =  \dfrac{c}{ \lambda}  =  \dfrac{3.00 \times  {10}^{8} {ms}^{ - 1}  }{400 \times  {10}^{ - 9}m }  = 7.50 \times  {10}^{ 14} hz

frequency of red light :-

 \sf v =  \dfrac{c}{ \lambda}  =  \dfrac{3.00 \times  {10}^{8} {ms}^{ - 1}  }{750 \times  {10}^{ - 9}m }  = 4.00 \times  {10}^{14}

The range of visible spectrum is from 4.0 × 10¹⁴ to 7.50 × 10¹⁴ Hz in terms of frequency

Know more :-

wavelength (λ) :-

\Large\star the distance between two similar point in a wave is known as wavelength. The unit of wavelength are m, cm, Å, Nm.

Frequency (v) :-

\Large\starThe number of waves that pass through a given point in one second is called frequency.

SI units are Hertz (Hz) or cycle per second (cps)

frequency (v) and wavelength (λ) are related as

 \sf v =  \dfrac{c}{ \lambda}
