Abstract
Nehru’s economic ideas has been playing crucial role in accelerating pivot of economic development of our country .Still today his economic philosophy is considered as basis for our planned economic development .One of his key economic reform was the introduction of the Five Year Plan in 1951.He was the founder of modern India .He is always remembered as the architect of our economic policies. The policies initiated by him have been considered to be socialistic in nature. Nehru always advocated a kind of mixed economy. He gave equal consideration to private and public sector. However, it is said that socialism had played a very important in Nehru’s ideological make up .On the one hand, as devoted Gandhian, he had strong belief in the betterment of rural economy. On the other hand, he had a strong belief that industrial development would be the best way to serve India’s economic interests. Nehru wanted to create a balance between the rural and urban sectors in his economic policies. He always stressed on decentralization of economic and political power. In this connection, he laid foundation of Panchayat Raj Institutions in our country at Nagore(Rajasthan) on 2nd October, 1959 to accelerate the decentralization process .He always felt for the rural self-development of India very strongly. He made efforts to boost India’s cottage industries. Nehru believed that the rural and cottage industries of India played a major role in the economic fabric of the country. He was also of the belief that small and cottage industries were effective solution of the massive employment problems that remained a perpetual issue of concern throughout his tenure. This paper attempts to make a deep evaluation of Nehru Ian Economic Model and it’s relevance in present day context .His economic views touches all spheres of economic activities ,he advocated development and setting up of Public Sector , while also giving due attention to private sector , Foreign Direct Investment, Heavy Industries, big irrigation projects, atomic energy, space research , science and technology advancement, education, health, and all other aspects of development .
Introduction :
“I would say India must be profoundly grateful to him (Nehru) for the way in which he converted a purely political movement for independence in to an economic movement for a socialistic society though his socialism was of a different kind from Marxist socialism and precluded the use of violence advocating instead the retention and development of human individuality.

In Indian context regionalism is very effective process, this process has positive and negative vibes both. In positive way regionalism develops the brotherhood, improvement about rights, common thinkings. But in the negative way it threatens the unity, equaity of nations.
But maximum times reginalism gives negative ways. Indian Fedarilism is effected by regionalism.
