We know that 1 kg = 1000 gm

A box of 12 mangoes weighs 2.42 kg .If the packing material weighs 0.50 g, then each mango weighs 0.5186 grams

Solution:

Given that box of 12 mangoes weighs = 2.42 Kg

So 2.42 kg = 2.42 x 1000 = 24200 grams

Hence weight of box of 12 mangoes = 24200 grams

But the packing material = 0.5 gram

So the actual weight of mangoes = 24200 - 0.5  = 24199.5 gram

So, weight of 12 mangoes = 24199.5 gram

Weight of 1 mango =

\frac{24199.5}{12}

= 0.5186 grams

Hence each mango weighs 0.5186 grams
