The gravity on Jupiter is greater than the gravity on Earth because Jupiter is more massive. Although Jupiter is a great deal larger in size, its surface gravity is just 2.4 times that of the surface gravity of Earth. This is because Jupiter is mostly made up of gases.

Answer:

Great Question! Hope I'll be able to help you with this. :}

______________

weight of an object = its mass × acceleration due to gravity

if the same object is placed on both the planets then the mass is same in both cases so what's varying is its acceleration due to gravity.

Acceleration due to gravity depends on the gravitational pull exerted by the planet on it.

it's been discovered that two bodies exert gravitational force upon each other, which is directly proportional to the sum of their masses and inversely to the square of the distance between them.

Since, Jupiter is around 318 times as massive as the earth the gravitational pull it'll exert on the body will be much more than that exerted by the earth on the same object.

__________

EXTRA :-

• Gravitational force is always attractive in nature.

• Bodies with small masses( like humans, even the blue whales) do exert gravitational force but the amount is almost negligible as their mass is really very small.
