Explanation:

weight = m × g

10 = 6 × g' ( where g' is accln due to gravity on moon)

g'= (10/6)

now the mass will remain same anywhere in the universe, but weight will change as accln due to gravity changes.

therefore a 30 kg mass will weigh

30 × (10/6) = 50 N on moon.

Answer:

Mass is the same. Weight is 50 N.

Explanation:

Mass is the same as it does not change; that is 30 kg.

The body's weight on the moon is 1/6 of the weight of the body on the earth.

Wm = 1/6 X We

Wm = 1/6 X 30

Wm =  5 kg

Now, 1 kg = 10 N

Thus, 5 kg is equal to 50 N.

Derivation of the weight of an object on the moon is equal to 1/6 th the weight on the earth.

Suppose a body of mass "m" and its weight on the moon is Wm

The mass of the moon is "M" and its radius is "R."

Weight of an object on the moon = Force with which the moon pulls.

Wm = GMm/R^{2}

The weight of the same object on the earth is We

The mass of the earth is 100 times that of the moon.

The radius of the moon = R

The radius of the Earth = 4R

Weight of the object on the earth We = Gx100Mm/(4R)^{2}

We = Gx100 Mm/16R^{2}

Wm/We =GMm/R^{2} / Gx100xMm/16R^{2}

Wm/We = 16/100

Wm/ We = 1/6
