Given :-

◉ Dimensions of a metal block A:

  • Length, L = 12 cm
  • Breadth, B = 10 cm
  • Height, H = 6 cm

◉ Weight of metal block A = 7.2 kg

◉ Dimensions of same type of metal block B:

  • Length, l = 5 cm
  • Breadth, b = 4 cm
  • Height, h = 2.5 cm

To Find :-

◉ Weight of metal block B

Solution :-

We know,

Volume of metal block A = L × B × H [∵ It is in the shape of a cuboid ]

⇒ Volume = 12 × 10 × 6

⇒ Volume = 720 cm³

Now,

Weight of metal block A = 7.2 kg

Weight = Density × Volume [ We can take, mass = weight, here ]

⇒ 7.2 = Density × 720

⇒ Density = 0.01 kg/cm³ ...(1)

Similarly,

Volume of metal Block B = l × b × h

⇒ Volume = 5 × 4 × 2.5

⇒ Volume = 50 cm³

Since, The both metal blacks are of same type ( material ) as given in the question, Hence the density of both the metal blocks will be same.

Density = Weight(Mass) / Volume

⇒ Weight = 0.01 × 50 [ from (1) ]

⇒ Weight = 0.5 kg

Hence, The other metal block ( B) would weigh 0.5 Kg

Some Information :-

Density = Mass / Volume

Volume of Cuboid = L × B × H

where,

  • L = Length
  • B = Breadth
  • H = Height

Volume of Cube = (side)³
