Weight is defined as the force acting on an object due to gravity. Since weight is a force it's unit is Newton(N) and not in grams(g). Grams is a unit of mass

The weight of body is 12g and this statement is not correct.

explanation : weight of body is the product of mass and acceleration due to gravity acting on the body.

i.e., w = mg, where g is acceleration due to gravity.

what you have written is the mass of body. 12gram or 12g , it shows the mass of body. and you know mass of body is independent quantity. it is fundamental quantity and remains constant in any situations. but the weight of body varies from place to place. weight depends upon the gravitational force acting on it.

hence the correct way to write the weight of this body is 0.012kg-wt [because 1 kg-wt shows the weight of body of mass 1 kg ]
