Weight of the body is the force with which it is attracted towards the center of the earth. As the distance of the pole is less than the distance of the equator from the center of the earth, the force of attraction is higher on the body at poles than at the equator. Hence the weight of a body is greater at pole than at the equator.

⚫The acceleration due to gravity increases with decrease in distance from the surface of the earth to the centre of earth.
⚫As this distance is least when the body is at the pole of earth, the value of acceleration due to gravity increases.
⚫As the weight is the product of mass and acceleration due to gravity, the weight increases.
