Let the weight of the Jairam be x kg.

∴ Weight of the Ramesh = 3x - 10

Now, according to the question, Sum of the weight of Ramesh and Jayram = 70 kg.

∴ x + 3x - 10 = 70

⇒ 4x = 80

∴ x = 20

∴ Weight of Jayram = 20 kg.

∴ Weight of Ramesh = 3 × 20 - 10 = 50 kg.

Hope it helps.

Acc to the question, the weight of Ramesh is 10 kg less than three times the weight of Jayram.

Let the weight of Jayram be W kg.

Then weight of Ramesh will be (3W - 10) kg.

In the second case the data given is total weight of both is 70 kg.

i.e. W + (3W - 10) = 70 kg.

or, 4W - 10 = 70kg

or, 4W = 80kg.

or, W = (80 ÷ 4) kg = 20kg.

Therefore, weight of Jayram is 20kg and that of Ramesh is 50kg.
