Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

The weights of 3 apples in a box of 36 apples are 115g, 121 g and 118 g respectively.

To find :-

(a) What is the average weight of 3 apples?

(b) Estimate the total weight of 36 apples based on the average weight.?

Solution :-

Given that

Number of apples in a box = 36

The weights if 3 apples in the box are 115g, 121 g and 118 g

We know that

Average = Sum of all observations/Number of all observations

Average weight of three apples

= Sum of the weights of three apples / 3

=> (115+121+118)/3

=> 354/3

=> 118 g

The average weight of three apples = 118 g

So We have 36 apples

=> 12×3

=> 12 × 118 g

=> 1416 g

Estimated average weight of 36 apples = 1416 g or 1 kg 416 g

Total weight = 1416×36 = 50976 g or

50 kg 976 g

Answer:-

a) The average weight of three apples = 118 g

b) Estimated average weight of 36 apples = 1416 g or 1 kg 416 g

c) Total weight of 36 apples = 50976 g or 50 kg 976 g

Used formulae:-

→ Average = Sum of all observations/Number of all observations

→ 1 kg = 1000 g
