The weights of 7 players of a Kabaddi team (in kg) are: 65, 62, 74, 80,78, 69, 76. What is the variance of their
weights? (correct to two decimal places)

Answer :-

→ mean weight = (65 + 62 + 74 + 80 + 78 + 69 + 76)/7 = 504/7 = 72 .

so,

→ sum of (difference of weight)² = (65 - 72)² + (62 - 72)² + (74 - 72)² + (80 - 72)² + (78 - 72)² + (69 - 72)² + (76 - 72)² = 49 + 100 + 4 + 64 + 36 + 9 + 16 = 278

then,

→ Variance = sum of (difference of weight)² / N - 1

→ Variance = 278 / 7 - 1

→ Variance = 278 / 6

→ Variance ≈ 46.34 (Ans.)
