The well 12 m deep with a diameter 3.5 m is dug up and earth from it is evenly spread to form a platform 10.5 m long an 8.8 m wide. Find the height of the platform.

now, depth or height of well = 12 m ------ (h)


diameter of well = 3.5 m

therefore , radius = 3.5 ÷ 2 = 1.75 m ------ ( r )


let the height of platform be h.

Length of rectangular platform = 10.5 m ------ ( l )

& breadth of platform = 8.8 m ------- (b)

condition the one thing is transformed into another thing.]

therefore,


volume \: of \: cylindrical \: well \:  = volume \\ of \: rectangular \: platform \\  \\  =  > \pi {r}^{2}h = l \times b \times h \\  \\  =  >  \frac{22}{7}  \times 1.75 \times 1.75 \times 12 = 10.5 \times 8.8 \times h \\  \\  =  >  \frac{22 \times 1.75 \times 1.75 \times 12}{10.5 \times 8.8} = h   \\  \\  =  > 1.25 = h

therefore, height of platform is 1.25 m.
