The western coastal strip south of goa is known as the Kannar coast.

This coast is mainly known as the Malabar coast that stretches from south of Goa to Kanyakumari in India's southern tip. It is often used to describe the entire coast from konkan to kanyakumari. It has the Arabian sea on the western side and the Western Ghats on the eastern side. This part is also know as the wettest region of southern India because it traps the moisture laden winds which hits this coast at first and ultimately brings heavy rainfall.
