radius = 1.4 m

circumference =

2\pi \: r

 = 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 1.4

 = 2 \times 22 \times 0.2

 = 8.8m

Circumference =8.8 m

Distance in one rotation= 8.8 m

Total distance travelled = 1.1km

=1100 m

Number of rotations in 1100 m =

 \frac{distance}{circumfrence}

 = \frac{1100}{8.8}

 = 125

Hence the wheels have made 125 revolutions to cross 1.1km

Question:

The wheel of a bullock cart has a diameter of 1.4 metre. How many rotations will the wheel complete as the cart travel 1.1 km?

Solution:

Diameter of wheel = 1.4m

Radius of wheel = 0.7m

\boxed{\sf{Perimeter\:of\: Circle=2 \pi r}}

\implies 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 0.7 \\ \implies2 \times 22 \times 0.1 \\  \implies4.4m

Distance covered = 1.1 km = 1100m

Let the number of rotations be x.

\boxed{\sf{Number\:of\: rotations= \frac{distance \: covered}{perimeter} }}

x  =  \frac{1100}{4.4}  \\ x =  \frac{11000}{44}

\boxed{\sf{x=250}}

Therefore,the wheel completes 250 rotations as the cart travels 1.1 km.
