Anant was a 15 year old school boy who was exceptionally talented and ambitious. He was the best table tennis player and the fastest runner in his school. He had started composing his own tunes at an early stage of training in Sitar. But, he was struck by cancer and was taking treatment at Bombay Hospital. He was a music enthusiast and had an ardent desire to see the maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar perform live. However his physical condition did not permit him to attend the concert. As a bold solution to their problem, his sister Smita arranged for the dream concert of Pandit Ravi Shankar at their Aunt's residence. So that the earnest desire of her brother could be fulfilled.

Without warning, he was struck with cancer and came to Mumbai for treatment. Then one day, his sister read from the newspaper that Pandit Ravi Shankar would be performing at the Shanmukhananda auditorium. It was his sickness, his mother forbade him. Finally, his sister, in a very daring move, went to the concert and after the concert, went backstage and requested Pandit Ravi Shankar to come to their home and play for her brother. The great generous maestro along with Ustad Allah Rakha agreed and did exactly that. As the beautiful soulful music wafted around the room where Anant lay, Anant breathed his last.
