Length = x

Breadth = 16 cm

Perimeter = 80 cm

Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 ( l + b )

2 ( l + b ) = 80

2 ( x + 16 ) = 80

x + 16 = 80 / 2

x + 16 = 40

=> x = 40 - 16 = 24

Hence length of the rectangle is 24 cm.

Area of rectangle = Length * Breadth

=> Area = 24 * 16 = 384 cm²

Hence length = 24 cm and Area = 384 cm²

\huge\underline\mathrm{SOLUTION:-}

Given:

  • The width of a rectangle is 16cm.
  • The perimeter of the rectangle is 80 cm.

Need To Find:

  • Length of the rectangle =?
  • Area of the rectangle =?

ExPlanation:

  • The width of a rectangle is 16cm. [Given]
  • The perimeter of the rectangle is 80 cm. [Given]

We know that:

  • Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 ( length + breadth)

1st Case:

  • We have to find the length of the rectangle,

So,

Let the length of the rectangle be x.

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 ( length + breadth)

Substituting the values in the above formula, we get,

➠ 2 ( l + b ) = 80

➠ 2 ( x + 16 ) = 80

➠ x + 16 = 80 / 2

➠ x + 16 = 40

➠ x = 40 - 16

x = 24

Now, We know that the value of x = 24.

  • Therefore, length of the rectangle = 24 cm.

2nd Case:

  • We have to find the Area of rectangle,

It is Given that,

  • Breadth of the rectangle = 16 cm.
  • Length of the rectangle = 24 cm

Now,

We know that,

  • Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Substituting the values in the above formula, we get,

= 24 × 16

= 384

  • Therefore, Area of the rectangle = 384 cm².
