The width of a rectangle is 7 meters less than the length Find the dimension of the rectangle if the area is 369 square meters

Let, The length of rectangle = x m

Breadth of rectangle = (x-7) m

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

or, 369 = x (x-7)

or, x^2-7x-369 = 0

or, x^2-2×x×(7/2)+(7/2)^2-369-(49/4) =0

or,

 {(x -  \frac{7}{2} ) }^{2} - (369 +  \frac{49}{4} ) = 0

or,

 {(x -  \frac{7}{2} )}^{2}  =  \frac{1525}{4}

or,

x =  \frac{7}{2} +  \frac{ \sqrt{1525} }{2}

Hence, Length and Breadth of rectangle are

 \frac{7 +  \sqrt{1525} }{2} m \: and \:  \frac{ - 7 +  \sqrt{1525} }{2} m
