Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length and breadth of the rectangle=x and y respectively.

Breadth =2/3×x.

Length =x.

Perimeter=2×(l+b).

180=2×{x+(2/3×x)}

180=2×(3x+2x)/3

180=10x/3.

180×3=10x.

540=10x.

54=x.

So length=54 metre.

So breadth=(2/3×54)metre=(2×18)metre=36metre.

If the breadth of the rectangle is increased by 18 m,then it will become a square.

So area will be length × breadth=54×18=972(metre)².or 972m².

If 5/4 of the length is taken and 7/8 of the breadth was taken,then length = 5/4×54=67.5m.

Then breadth=7/8×18=15.85m.

So perimeter = 2×(67.5+15.85)m = 83.35m.

So the new area of the rectangle=length × breadth = 67.5×15.85 = 1069.875
