now,

perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)


40 = $2[x + \frac{2x}{3} ]$

$\frac{40}{2} = \frac{3x+2x}{3}$


20*3= 3x +2x 

60 = 5x 

60/5 = x 

12 =x 


Now,

length = x =12 m 

And,

breadth =  $\frac{2*12}{3}$


breadth = 2*4 =8m

2(x+y)=40
x+y=40/2
putting the value of y
x+2/3x=20
x(1+2/3)=20
x(3+2/3)=20
x(5/3)=20
x=20/5/3
x=12

y=2×12/3
y=8
