✴ The wind is blowing from south at 10 m/s but to a cyclist it appears blowing from the east at 10 ms. The velocity of cyclist is :-

1) 10/2 ms-1 towards S-W

2) 1012. ms towards N - W

3) 10/2 ms-1 towards S-E

4) 10/2 ms- towards N-E

Option 4.) 10/2 ms- towards N-E

\mathtt{\huge{\underline{\blue{Solution:-}}}}

Given :-

  • The wind is blowing from south at 10 m/s but to a cyclist it appears blowing from the east at 10 ms.

To find :-

  • The velocity of cyclist.

Solution :-

According to the question,

If a wind is blowing relatively with the to the cyclist with v of 10 m/s from east

Also, wind is blowing relative to ground with velocity 10 m/s from south ,

  • Vwind = 10j m/s

  • -Vwc = 10 i m/s

Vwc = Vw - Vc

=> Vc = 10i + 10 j

Hence, |Vc| = 10√2 m/s N-E direction.
