The given situation is an arithmetic sequence with the first term equal to 52 and has a common difference of -6. The formula for the summation (S) of the terms in arithmetic sequence is

                                   S = (n/2) x (2a1 + (n - 1) d)

where n is the number of term, a1 the first term, and d the common difference.

Substitute the given from the problem,

                                          S = (8/2) x ( (2)(52) + (8 - 1)(-6))

                                              S = 248

Therefore, there are 248 windows on the first eight floors. The answer is letter A. 248
