Due to the rotation of the Earth on it's axis, the direction of the wind changes.

Due to this, the winds are not directed towards the pressure gradient. Instead, they get deflected from their original path and is called the Coriolis effect.

Due to this effect, winds in the northern hemisphere get deflected to the right of their path and those in the southern hemisphere to their left, following Ferrel's Law, the law that states that winds are deflected to the right in the Northern Hemisphere and to their left in the Southern Hemisphere.
