Perimeter of the square = 4× side
=> 4×10
= 40 cm
As the wire is bent into rectangle having length 12 cm
Since Perimeter of square = Perimeter of rectangle
40= 2(l+b)
20= 12+b
b= 8 cm
Area of square = 10²= 100 cm²
Area of rectangle= l×b= 12×8= 96cm²
Lost in area = 100-96= 4cm²

Side of square=10cm
Perimeter of square=4 × side=4×10=40cm
Hence the total length of wire is 40cm

Permiter of rectangle=2×(length+breadth)
=2×(12+breadth)
Since length of wire remains same:
2×(12+breadth)=40
12+breadth=20
Breadth=20-12=8cm

Area of square=(side)²
=10²=100cm²

Area of rectangle= length × breadth
=12 × 8=96cm²

Difference in area =100-96=4cm²
Hence area of square is more by 4cm²
