The work done by (x – 5) men in (2x + 2) days and the work done by (2x + 2) men in (x + 5) days are in the

Solution:

Work done in one day: ( x-5 ) × ( 2x + 2)

Work done in one day: ( 2x+2) × (x + 5)

Now we have :

(( x - 5)( 2x + 2)) / ((2x + 2)( x + 5)) = 1 / 3

by Cancelling common elements

( x - 5) / ( x + 5) = 1 / 3

x - 5 = 1/3 × (x + 5)

3( x - 5) = x + 5

3x - 15 = x + 5

3x - x = 5 +15

2x = 20

x = 20/2

x = 10

Verifying

put x value in equation

(( x - 5)( 2x + 2)) / ((2x + 2)( x + 5)) = 1 / 3
