the work done is negative when ever an objet falls from someone head then it is said that the work done by gravity is negative but if the force of gravity attract the object so why it is negative?

lm not sure if my answer will satisfy you but we take an object path as graph so when something is going down its negative as its going in negative Y direction.

it's just a assumption. ..that work against gravity is negative
you may take the sign opposite also..while solving numericals result will be same.
main reason behind this is velocity and acceleration is in opposite direction. ..
anyone can be considered as negative it's all upon you.
