the work done may be positive, negative or zero write the conditions for positive, negative and zero work done?

Case 1

« If the displacement is in the direction of force, i.e. , theta = 0 degree
W= F×S

THE WORK DONE IS POSITIVE



CASE 2

« When the displacement is normal to the direction of force i.e. theta = 90 degrees

« when there is no displacement i.e. S = 0
then work done is zero


CASE 3

« IF the displacement is in a direction opposite to the force, i.e. theta = 180 degrees
then cos 180 degrees = -1
therefore W= -F×S
Then work done is negative
