Answer:

Global Village means that all the parts of the world are brought together by means of electronic communications,  internet, air travel and other such factors.

This term was coined by Marshall Mc Luhan in 1964.

It refers to the process of globalisation in which ideas, goods and people spread throughout the world and leads to more integration and interaction between different cultures, economies and governments.

Answer:

The concept of “Global Village” is immensely wide and cannot be measured by one or few factors. This is true that technologies in the recent years have helped the concept to flourish, but smartphones are just one of them.

Globalization and opening up the borders have created immense possibilities for the world on the way of becoming a True Global village. The products, services and even the experiences which were not even known of, could be experienced, though in a less authentic way. You can savor a classic Italian margarita in the middle of Bangladesh though it does not taste the same. It was not possible probably 20 years back.

The affordability of air travel is another immense contributor to the concept. Today the cities and countries are more connected than ever. Moreover it costs less to fly than travel by road or train in most part of the world.

The advent of smartphones is another big boost. Not just because it has been easier to book the tickets conveniently or order a product on amazon, but mostly because of easy access to international media and international content. The western media (in most cases) gives a suitable entree to new culture to the easterners and vice versa.
