It is believed that New Delhi dumps about 58% of the waste in the river Yamuna.
Causes of water pollution in Yamuna river:
A.Industrial waste: The waste of the factories around the river discharge the waste in the water and damage the water as well as environment.
B.Dumping: Dumping of different materials like glass, plastic and aluminium in the river affects the aquatic plants and animals.
C.Human activities: People around the river pollute it by washing clothes and utensils and defecating in or around the river.
The Government has taken the following steps to bring back its glory:
I)Many slumps have been removed from the riverfront.
II)Several inexpensive toilets have been installed.
III)Anyone dumping wastage in the river would be imposed fine.
