Vizianagaram fort was constructed during the reign of Vijaya Rama Raju who was the Maharaja which means the king of vizianagaram. The formality of this installation of the fort was auspicious as it denoted five signs of victory and triumph.

The focal entrance gateway is called the Nagar khana which is festooned for its architectural beauty. It has two other accompanying gates which were also exceptional and a victory tower.

There are many palaces and temples were found within the fort. An auspicious tenth day in the lunar calendar of Hindu religion is chosen for this inauguration ceremony.
