Zeroes of a polynomial f(x) means that values of x for which the given polynomial, f(x) = 0

Or,

Zeroes of a polynomial f(x) are the points where the graph of f(x) cuts the x-axis

So, by definition

2 + x - x² = 0

or, x² - x - 2 = 0

or, x² - 2x + x - 2 = 0

or, x(x - 2) + 1(x - 2) = 0

or, (x + 1)(x - 2) = 0

=> Either x = (-1) or, x = 2

So, the zeroes of the given polynomial p(x) are (-1) and 2
