Given,

A polynomial p(x) = 5x-2

To find,

The zero of the polynomial

Solution,

To find the zero of the polynomial we would have to equate the value of p(x) = 5x-2 = 0.

-2 which is on the Left-Hand Side of the equation would be shifted to the Right-Hand Side of the equation and hence its sign would be changed from -2 to +2.

Therefore we would get,

⇒   5x - 2 = 0

⇒   5x = 2

⇒   x = 2/5

Hence, the zero of the polynomial p(x) =5x-2 will be 2/5.
