Solution:

f(x)=6x^2+17x-88

We know that f(x)=0

=>6x^2+17x-88=0

=>6x^2-16+33x-88=0

=>2x(3x-8)+11(3x-8)=0

=>(2x+11)(3x-8)=0

=>2x+11=0 or 3x-8=0

=>x= -11/2 or 8/3

The option is (2).

Note:

If y is a zero of a polynomial,on substitution the answer would be zero.
