Hi,

Here is your answer

Given:

p(x)=2x²+5x-3

To Find:

Zeroes of p(x)

Solution:

Finding the zeroes of the polynomial by splitting the middle term

2x²+5x-3=0

2x²+6x-1x-3=0

Taking the common factors out

2x(x+3)-1(x+3)=0

(x+3)(2x-1)=0

Either x+3=0

x= -3

Or

2x-1=0

x=1/2

Therefore the zeroes of the polynomial are -3 and 1/2

Notes:

The zeroes of a polynomial can be found out by 3 methods

  • Factorisation method
  • Splitting the middle term
  • Completing the square

Hope this helps you.
