Answer:

Step-by-step explanation: A lion has 4 legs and 1 head and a parrot has 2 legs and 1 head . Let the number of lions be x and no. of parrots be y

Then x + y = 15 and 4x + 2y = 50

From equation 1 , x = 15 - y

Therefore in equation 2 , 4(15 - y) + 2y = 50

                                 ⇒ 60 - 4y + 2y = 50

                                 ⇒ 60 - 2y = 50

                                 ⇒ 2y = 10

                                 ⇒ y = 5

Therefore, no. of parrots = 5

Since x + y = 15 and y = 5 ,  no. of lions = 10
