so the ratinoal no. be x/x+8

x +10/x+8+10=3/4
x+10/x+18= 3/4
by cross multiply
4( x+10) = 3( x+18)
4x+40=3x+54
4x-3x = 40-54
x= -14
x/x+8= -14/-14+8=-14/-6= -7/-3= 7/3
