Reason for increasing road accidents and measures
Background :
In recent times, it is reported that more number of road accidents happened in the main roads and national highways in and around Pilani. Nearly 25 people have lost their lives in road accidents.
Reasons :
The roads in the Plan districts are 5 years old. They were not properly laid during its inception. Most of the roads have ditches taken by Corporations, Telecommunication which are not properly laid back. Moreover, there are no proper sign boards to indicate the right and left side of the way. Since many small roads lead to schools and hospitals, there are always traffic jams in the peak hours.
Conclusion :
It is advised to lay down new roads with good quality and maintain them with proper road safety measures. Many school children and women are vulnerable to such road accidents.
Recommendations :
- Lay down proper roads which are durable to all types of weather
- Intimating all the departments to restructure the roads after the work is completed.
- More traffic signals and Traffic police should be employed.
- Heavy vehicles should not enter the city during the peak hours
- Erecting sign boards and proper road lanes.
