So, we can say that - 12% of total number of students are boys which is 26.

Lets take the total no. of students to be and the total no. of girls to be y

12/100 x = 36

or, 3/25 x = 36

or, 3/25 = 36

or, 3 = 36 x 25

or, 3 = 900

or,  = 900/3

or, = 300

y = 100-12% = 88%

88/100 x 300

= 22/25 x 300

= 22 x 300/25

= 6600/25

= 264

Therefore, 1. Total number of girls in the school is 264

2. Total number of students in the school is 300
