a+b= -13

a-b= 18

Rearranging, the second equation

b = a-18

So, substituting in the first equation.

a+ a-18 = -13

2a = -13 + 18

2a = 5

a = 2.5

Now substituting this value in the second equation,

2.5- b= 18

b = 2.5 -18

b = -15.5

Hope it helps

Given :  Sum is  - 13  & Difference is 18

To find : Numbers

Solution:

Let say Two numbers are X  & Y

and X > Y

=> X  - Y  =  18   Eq1

& X +  Y  = - 13   Eq2

Adding both Equations

=> 2X  =  5

=> X = 5/2

putting X = 5/2  in  Eq2

=> 5/2 +  Y = - 13

=> Y = - 13 - 5/2

=> Y= -31/2

Numbers are  5/2  & - 31/2   or ( 2.5  & - 15.5)
