Our Parliament-Union Legislature

fe have already studied that India is a democratic country. A
democratic country is a country in which its citizens participate
in the decision-making process of the government. It is also
characterised by social, political and economic equality among its citizens.
The Parliament is the supreme legislature of the Union of India. The framers
of our Constitution have adopted the system of parliamentary democracy. That
is why, the Parliament of India plays a pivotal role in the governance of the
country
Article 79 of the Constitution lays down, "There shall be a Parliament for
the Union which shall consist of the President and two Houses to be know
respectively as the Council of States and the House of the People."​
