''my lost dollar'' is an appropriate title because the story starts and ends with the lost dollar of the author. it shows his mournful yearnings to get back the dollar he had lent to his friend. his devising of many ways to remind his friend of the dollar constitute the most interesting part of the story. how he gives up all hope and starts thinking of himself as a probable debtor also deals with the dollar. his wanting to start a 'BACK TO HONESTY' movement to make borrowers return the borrowed dollars also has to do with his lost dollar. thus we find that the theme of forgetfulness is proved.
