Merchant of Venice is a novel, written by William Shakespeare. The main character of the play is Antonio, who is the Merchant of Venice. His companion is Bassanio, who is in love with Portia. The main theme of the plot is Bassanio's true love towards Portia and showcasing True friendliness nature towards his nearest companion, Antonio. As the drama progresses, we get to see that there is a rich and merciless cur, Shylock, the Jew, who lends money with interest. He is a big hater of Antonio because Antonio lends money without interest. The whole Play is about the rivalry of Antonio and Shylock.
