Fritz by Satyajit Ray is a noteworthy horror story by the author. The central character of the story is an inert object – a doll that the person in the story played with during his childhood.
The story describes how a man visited a circuit house in a town based in Rajasthan many years after he had been there as a child. When he is there, the man is suddenly reminded about the Swiss doll Fritz that he had received as a present from his uncle. Unfortunately, a dog tore the doll apart and the man buried it in the lawn. The same night that the man is reminded of Fritz, the latter presents itself full of life to the man and is eager to once again play with him.
