QUESTION:-
Theme of the king and the tree goddess
ANSWER:-
- In the story, The King And The Tree Goddess written by Ruskin Bond the theme is that life in any aspect should be respected, appreciated and understood by everyone. It prioritises the reality that trees similarly have a life just like human beings and animals do.
- Sometimes humans ignore the fact that trees and plants are also living things and they can also feel and deserve to have a safe life. Humans cut down trees to satisfy their momentary requirements. In India, several trees such as the Tulsi, Banyan, Peepal, Deodar etc. are deemed to be religious and are worshipped.
- In the story "The King And The Tree Goddess" a King who used to live in the foothills of the Himalayas wished to build a wonderful mansion for himself with the wood of the deodar tree which was mostly used to build temples. After trying to search for it, the men of the king found a wonderful deodar tree which the villagers used to worship the tree as a Goddess used to stay in it. The men of the king expended their honour to the Tree Goddess and told her about the intention of the king. The Tree Goddess paid back swiftly. That night she mumbled to the king in his dreams and made him familiar with the significance of her presence and the other trees which stimulated him to rectify his thinking.
